I keep finding myself becoming more and more lactose intolerant. It went from “oh, I can’t chug milk anymore without getting an upset stomach” to “I can’t have cereal in the morning without explosive poops the rest of the day”. Sad face. I love milk. Guess now I gotta start buying lactaid.
Of course, since I couldn’t have cereal for breakfast this morning I had a microwave mexican casserole, which will surely never backfire (ha) on me.

Same here. Sucks getting old but it sure beats the altenative.

You should avoid winning the 500, then. Sucks, you coulda been a contender.

I lived with a guy who was really sensitive to lactose like trace amounts would take him out of commission for a day levels.
One day he found out this cheese was lactose free.
I’ve never seen a man so happy shove a brick of cheese into his face.

A friend of mine is lactose intolerant... and drinks large milkshakes because YOLO. Seriously... he’s willing to put up with the pain because he loves milkshakes.

He could just drink oj.

But then he would be booed every time he returns.

I have no idea if this applies to lactose intolerance, so please don’t go downing jugs of milk 24/7, but I feel like this is a good spot to show off something I found out a while ago:
For people who are mildly allergic to something, the best course of action can be to have small amounts of contact with the allergen and slowly build it up. Peanuts for example. It’s been found that people who are allergic can fix their problems just by having peanuts on a regular basis.

It’s not that big of a deal. Just keep a handy supply of Lactaid. My wife and both of my kids are lactose intolerant. Lactaid does a great job of breaking down the lactose in ice cream, cheese, milk, etc. Pop a pill, enjoy what you want!

Egad. I put too much milk on my cereal yesterday and felt like my intestines were having a cage fighting match while my butt tried its hand at opera singing.

I’m confused. It seems like the alternative would be “able to drink milk” which I’m all for. And I’m really hoping 20 isn’t “old” now.

I think I’m in between lactose intolerant and not. I switched to Lactaid last year and I’ve never gone back. It’s awkwardly sweet though and makes it annoying to eat sugary cereal.
The best part is probably that Lactaid never expires. Like its amazing. I bought a small thing of milk before I left for home for the summer and it went bad and I was like how do I know if milk has gone bad or not since I haven't seen it in so long.

Alternative to getting old not drinking milk. Lactose intolerence hit me in my early 40s. 20 isn’t old btw it’s the new 15!

The Lactaid milk is really sweet. I won’t drink it, but my son does. The kids use the pills to eat other stuff like cheese and ice cream. If you run out of pills, a swig or two of the milk does the same job since lactase, the enzyme they use to break down the lactose, doesn’t break down.
You may not have experienced it yet, but Lactaid milk does go bad. My wife forgot a carton of it in the fridge in the garage and that stuff was just nasty.

Every once in a while I have cereal and I feel the same way but it’s pretty rare so idek if I’m slowly going intolerant.

In Germany, you aren’t considered “fully” an adult until you’re 30.
Makes sense.

There are many things I want to be. 15 again is not one of them, lol

But I’d love to be 20 again.

I feel your pain.. Im 18 and in school. All the sudden, my cereal was killing me in the morning. So I had to cut down to having bland, sad soy milk instead.... It sucks!

I like organic soymilk quite a bit for general consumption (over cereal, etc), but nothing can replace whole milk in a caffe latte.

No problem. There are actually quite a few cheeses that are lactose free.

Almond milk isn’t bad, might be a touch more expensive but it’s decent.

Milk is horrible for you. Use Almond milk, or Hemp milk if you can find it. So much better for you.

The guy I am seeing is very lactose intolerant. So I love cooking and baking for people in my life. As I do for him I have started to eat less dairy and honestly the vanilla Coconut milk is SSSOOOOO much better than any other milk product I have ever had.
